Application Documents and Requirements
I. Application Documents
An applicant should submit the following documents in terms of the program you are applying for. Please mail your application materials to our address or send the scanned copy by email within the required time.
1. Applicants for Chinese language programs
1) Valid Passport Copy;
2) Application Form for Admission to Hainan University;
3) Latest/final academic diploma and transcripts;
4) Application fee of 400 yuan/RMB.
2. Applicants for undergraduate programs
1) Valid Passport Copy;
2) Application Form for Admission to Hainan University;
3) Latest/final Academic diploma (original or notarized version, in notarized Chinese or English version);
4) Transcripts (original or notarized version, in notarized Chinese or English version);
5) HSK band 4 certificate;
6) Application fee of 400 yuan/RMB.
3. Applicants for postgraduate or Ph.D programs
1) Valid Passport Copy;
2) Application Form for Admission to Hainan University;
3) Latest/final academic diploma (original or notarized version, in notarized Chinese or English version);
4) Transcripts (original or notarized version, in notarized Chinese or English version);
5) Two recommendation letters by professors or associate professors;
6) Your research plan;
7) HSK band 4 certificate(Applicants for Chinese-taught programs), or certificate for IELTS or TOEFL(Applicants for English-taught programs).
(8) Application fee of 400 yuan/RMB.
Notes:
Please fill out all the information requested (write NA if not applicable) in English or Chinese. An incomplete application form or inadequate supporting documents will delay the process of your application.
Application fee should be paid when you submit your application materials; it is non-refundable under any conditions.
Whether you are admitted or not, the application materials will be not returned.
II. Application Requirements
Applicants should be healthy, well-behaved and capable of living independently. They are obligated to observe Chinese laws and university regulations. Respecting Chinese culture and traditions is also imperative.
1. General Academic Requirements
When entering HU, applicants for undergraduate programs should have completed their secondary education and obtained a high school diploma or equivalent; Applicants for postgraduate programs should have completed their undergraduate studies and obtained a Bachelor Degree or equivalent; Applicants for doctoral programs should have completed their postgraduate studies and obtained a Master Degree or equivalent.
2. Language Requirements
1) Applicants for Chinese-taught programs are required to obtain HKS Band 4 certificate
2) A candidate who wishes to be admitted to English-taught programs on the basis of a qualification from a university or comparable institution where the language of teaching and/or examination is not English is required to obtain one of the following English tests:
A score of 560 or above (paper-based test) or 75 or above (internet-based test) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) , or a minimum overall band of 6.0 in the test of International English Language Tests (IELTS)
Note: For admission, only TOEFL or IELTS score recorded in the two years before the date of application will be considered.
